OTTAWA - In an atmosphere of holiday cheer, the proud winners of the Awesome Authors Contest gathered on December 7 at the Greenboro branch for the official launch of Pot‑pourri 2024. Pot‑pourri is an anthology of the winning entries from the 2024 Awesome Authors writing contest organized by the Ottawa Public Library (OPL). 

Awesome Authors judges Catherine Austen, Pierre-Luc Bélanger, Amelinda Bérubé, Éric Péladeau and Khaleefa Hamdan were also in attendance, and were effusive in their praise and encouragement for the contest participants and winners. 

In conjunction with the writing contest, Ottawa’s young illustrators were invited to submit their cover designs for the anthology. The winning artist for 2024 is Léa Labossière Vobornik, who impressed the judges with a creative cover that accurately captured the anthology.  

The Pot-pourri anthology has arrived just in time for the holiday season! Parents and literature enthusiasts can show their support for these young writers by borrowing a copy from the Library or reaching out to the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association to inquire about purchasing Pot-pourri 2024. 

The Awesome Authors writing contest and the Pot-pourri anthology were made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association. These initiatives support the OPL’s mission of encouraging creativity and literacy in our community. Through this contest, budding wordsmiths and artists in all genres get a chance to put their stamp on Ottawa’s dazzling literary mosaic.
