Ottawa Public Library (OPL) maintains a register of declarations of conflicts of interest to meet the requirements of the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.50 (the Act). The register includes an extract of each written statement filed by a Board member with the Board Secretary.

Under the Act, Board members must declare any direct or indirect pecuniary interest of the member, or of the member’s parent, spouse, or child, as well as certain business interests, as defined in the Act.

Board members must file a written statement when declaring a conflict of interest. Declarations must be made at the beginning of the meeting, upon arrival, or, if the member was absent, at the next meeting they attend. The Board Secretary records all declarations in the meeting minutes.

All declared conflicts are recorded in the Board minutes. Please visit the OPL Board Agenda and Minutes web page for meeting minutes. Only those conflicts declared under the Act are included in this register.
