A child reads their first book
Our Read-Along books helped turn everyday moments into shared stories. From newcomer families bridging languages together to young readers returning to their favourite books again and again, these books are making a real difference.

Children and youth learn and grow
Every March Break, hundreds of children and youth join OPL programs designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and connection. Through activities like writing workshops, cooking, dancing, music, and teen volunteering, young people explore new skills and build confidence in a supportive, welcoming environment.
With your support, OPL can continue offering free, inclusive programs that help children and youth learn, grow, and imagine what’s possible.
A summer of reading and discovery
Every summer, OPL encourages adults to rediscover the joy of reading through Stories of Summer, a system-wide reading challenge. From themed reading prompts and curated booklists to library displays and community activities, the program inspires adults to explore new authors, discover new genres, and reconnect with their library.
