OTTAWA- What do coral reefs and constellations have in common? They’ll both be waiting for you at the library this fall!
From October 6–12, 2025, Ottawa Public Library branches will transform into hubs of curiosity as part of Science Literacy Week — a national celebration of discovery, and wonder. This year’s theme is From Sea to Space, and OPL is the place to be.
At OPL, we believe science should be fun, hands-on, and for everyone. That’s why we’re bringing you a week full of free programs that put curiosity in the spotlight:
Hop aboard STEAM Storytime, dig into gardening with Little Sprouts, or get curious with Pumpkin Exploration.
Try out STEM Clubs and Stations featuring coding, robotics, and LEGO at select branches. Young coders can also play with Sphero or learn with Cubetto, the cutest wooden robot.
And don’t miss Seafarer Science — an ocean adventure designed for our youngest scientists.
👉 Registration is now open. All library programs are free. Visit our Programs and Events page for the full schedule.
Bonus Perk: Explore Even More Science In Real Life!
Did you know? With your OPL card, you can borrow free Ingenium passes to visit amazing museums like the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, the Canada Science and Technology Museum, and the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum.
So mark your calendar, grab your library card, and get ready to journey from the ocean floor to outer space — no passport required.
