OPL’s Sunnyside branch celebrates 75 years

Ottawa — Ottawa Public Library (OPL) will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its Sunnyside branch with a full day of programming and community activities on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Located in Old Ottawa South, the Sunnyside branch has served the community for 75 years as a welcoming space for reading, learning, and connection. The anniversary celebration will feature entertainment and interactive activities for visitors of all ages.

Program Highlights

  • 10:30 am — Interactive magic performance by John Pert

  • 11:30 am – 1:30 pm — Face painting and button making

  • 2:00 pm – Official remarks from Councillor Menard, OPL Board Chair Matt Luloff, and OPL CEO and Chief Librarian, Sonia Bebbington, followed by dessert and refreshments

  • 3:15 pm — Educational program featuring mammals and reptiles from the Zoo Crew

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is recommended to help ensure there is enough space for all attending.
