OTTAWA- Due to necessary roof and rooftop unit replacements, the Alta Vista branch of Ottawa Public Library will close temporarily starting Monday, June 3 for approximately six weeks. The reopening date will be announced as soon as possible as construction proceeds.
During the closure, there will be no returns or holds pick-ups at the regular Alta Vista branch location (2516 Alta Vista). This means that the Alta Vista book drop is not available during the closure; Library items can be returned at the Jim Durrell Rec Centre or any branch of OPL.
OPL will offer select services during the closure, at the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre (JDRC), located at 1265 Walkley Road. This temporary location is accessible by OC Transpo and includes ample parking.
Services available at temporary location will include:
-
Holds pickup
-
Mini-Express collection
-
Children’s collection for browsing will be available at this temporary location
-
Assistance and expertise from OPL staff
Library programming such as babytime and family storytime will continue to be offered in Ellwood Hall at the Recreation Centre. Dates and times for these events will be available on the OPL website.
The nearest alternative OPL branches to access full Library services are:
-
Greenboro branch, 363 Lorry Greenberg Dr.
-
Sunnyside branch, 1049 Bank St.
-
Elmvale Acres branch, 1910 St-Laurent Blvd.
