About the Branch
The Rideau branch has the atmosphere of a heritage library with all the modern conveniences. One of the older libraries in the city, the Rideau branch is close to shopping and restaurants in the Byward Market and the Rideau Street corridor. The branch was opened in 1934 by former Prime Minister Sir Robert Borden and has maintained its old world charm. The Rideau branch displays a range of artwork from 1945 to 2015. This branch has Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association (FOPLA) used books sales.
